Snacking on the Mediterranean Diet

Everyone loves a tasty snack in between meals. Considering all the accomplishments you’ve made since the start of your day, you deserve it. Dieting and lifestyle changes are made with a weight loss or overall healthier goal in mind. You’ve made several changes and removed certain items from your diet while doing so, and snacks shouldn’t be one of them. Try the simple recipes below to help get you through the day.

Sun-dried Tomatoes and Goat Cheese

Sundried tomatoes are packed with vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, calcium, and lycopene. Most of them are packed in olive oil, which creates an extra boost in heart health. For a quick snack, spread goat cheese on whole-wheat crackers then top them with sundried tomatoes and enjoy.

Fruit and Greek Yogurt

For a protein-packed snack, combine low-fat Greek yogurt with a handful of berries and some sunflower seeds. For added sweetness, drizzle a little honey on top.

Fruit Slices and Almond Butter

Apple or pear slices are ideal and easy for dipping. In this case, almond butter can be substituted with cashew butter as they both contain heart-healthy fats. Dip your fruits in the butter or spread a thin layer of butter on top and snack away.

Chunky Monkey Paleo Trail Mix

Trail mixes are simple, universal snacks that you can take almost anywhere. Another plus, they are easy to make. Paleo-friendly chocolate chunks, walnuts, cashews, coconut oil, and vanilla extract are all you need. You can throw in some dried fruits if you like. Add all of your in ingredients to a Crock-Pot and warm them.

Loaded Hummus

Loaded Hummus is a delicious snack option for anyone joining the Mediterranean diet lifestyle. Hummus is topped with cucumber, feta, cheese, herbs and other tasty ingredients filled with flavor. Go with whole-wheat crackers or pita chips for dipping.

Roasted Mediterranean Chickpeas

An excellent alternative for chips, roasted chickpeas are a delicious, filling, and satisfying midday snack. They can be sprinkled over salads, Hummus, or eaten alone with black pepper, oregano, and garlic powder spices.
